Metallica celebrates the 30th anniversary of the “Black Album” with the new Vans capsule collection.
With the 30th anniversary of the famous “Black Album” by Metallica just weeks away, the legendary band joins forces with Vans to create a dedicated new capsule collection. Artist Brian Schroeder, known as Pushead, has used Vans’ classic Sk8-Hi and Slip-On silhouettes to create artwork inspired by Metallica.
Known for his distinctive artistic style “Sad But True”, Pushead incorporates skulls in monstrous shades of rust and bones as catalysts for his artistic expression. The Sk8-Hi features skulls on the lateral side of the shoe, while the Slip-On features skulls opposing each other, almost as if they are opposites but the same. Shattered pieces of aqua green contrast with the black canvas to give a three-dimensional dimension to the shoe. Both sneakers are complete with the Metallica logo in shiny silver lettering. The Slip-On features the logo on the tongue, while the Sk8-Hi opts for a more enveloping midsole.
An initial exclusive release of the Metallica x Vans “Black Album” capsule collection is scheduled for July 25, 2021. For the general release, it will be available the following day, on July 26, 2021, on Vans and the Metallica web store.
