Rainbow, Ferragamo Pre-Fall 2023.
When they say that great classics never go out of style. Salvatore Ferragamo, under the creative direction of Maximilian Davis, relaunches the iconic Rainbow sandal in a new ultra-modern version for the Pre-Fall 2023 season.
Vibrant colors and chunky design, just like the original source of inspiration, reimagined to suit current tastes and trends. Another piece is added to the history of one of the most iconic it-shoes ever. One that changed the footwear world and is preparing to do so once again.
Rainbow Sandal, where it all began
In 1938, the eccentric Rainbow Sandals were first introduced. Designed and created by Salvatore Ferragamo, known as the “shoemaker to the stars,” they were inspired by actress Judy Garland.
This design, which became iconic thanks to the cork wedge covered in leather, its towering platform, and its vibrant colors that encompassed all the shades of the rainbow, went down in history as a revolution in the industry of that time. More comfortable and lightweight compared to competing shoes, they were patented to ensure that this bold choice, driven by the difficulty of obtaining metal during the years of fascism in Italy, became a signature style and a hallmark of quality Made in Italy.

A New Identity for Pre-Fall 2023
Since then, the Rainbow sandal has been revamped and reinterpreted countless times, playing with both its youthful spirit and its recognizable silhouette. Just as the current creative director of the fashion house, Maximilian Davis, has done, to whom much credit is due for the brand’s resurgence and a rediscovered cool yet elegant and impactful aesthetic.
Launched for Pre-Fall 2023, they maintain their exaggerated and daring proportions, modernized through the use of monochrome satin. The new Rainbow retains the original wedge silhouette, with the addition of two bands that form a knot on the upper.
Available in shades of green, bubble-gum pink, and red, as well as black and gold, they are the modern translation of a great classic. Changing their appearance without ever losing their identity.
